From The Minds Of Skeptics - 80 Notable Quotations genre: Hip-Gnosis

The following video contains many of the elements that inspire me. It is a compilation of thought provoking quotations...from a who's who list of skeptics...set to trance music. Need I say more?

A beautiful set of comments.

It reminds me of an incident that occurred in a church in the sierra's aobut 15 years ago. A pattern of colored lights would appear every day at a particular time. People swore they could see the virgin mary in thosel ights-- must have ocmpared it to her photo on facebook, I guess. People came from miles around to see the sight. One woman said "It is the Virgin Mary, and her message is world peace." Maybe it was whirled peas.

No one could figure out where the 'vision' was originating, further adding to it's allure and mystery. (As a photographer, it would have taken me about 30 seconds). A scientist came in, couldn't figure out where the 'vision' came from, but said he was pretty sure it was not the VM.

The dioscese issued THIS statement, which I just love for its cogency: "To those who believe, no explanation is necessary. to those who don't believe, no explanation is possible."

You've pretty much covered your as with that one.

The first CLOUDY day, the VM failed to show up at the appointed time. Same thing happened the next time. Finally, someone with some brains discovered that a small crystal, set into the stained glass of a window, was responsible for the apparition.

Ben,

I couldn't agree more. If you instructed millions of people to be on the lookout for apparitions of Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck, I suspect we'd find as many and I wonder how the Christians would explain them?

Perhaps a basic understanding of statistics and the random nature of things would enlighten them. Unfortunately, their notion of enlightenment isn't exactly my cup of tea.
