Michelle Laxalt: A Voice Of Reason In The GOP genre: Polispeak & Video-Philes

I don't often watch Larry King, but I happened to catch a portion of his show this evening, and I'm glad I did. While discussing the 2008 election, Michelle Laxalt, daughter of former GOP Senator Paul Laxalt of Nevada, offered a candid assessment of John McCain's cynical campaign, its suspect use of Sarah Palin to spout falsities, and its willingness to incite unfounded animosities with racial overtones in the midst of a financial crisis.

Kudos to Laxalt and those Republicans who have the courage to speak out against a candidate and a campaign that has willingly engaged in the suspension of decency for political gain. I haven't a scintilla of respect for John McCain and he should be ashamed of himself.

I only hope that at the close of this election, Republicans like Laxalt will reject the politics of division and transform the GOP into a respectable and responsible party that's capable of putting country ahead of the partisan pursuit of power and profit.

Yes you are truly a McCainiac. You are of no use to our party or any party really. You aren't conservative but can't identify with liberals so you want some mushy quasi liberative party identity which doesn't exist. Colonel Powell is a meaningless argument because he has no business telling Republicans how they should behave when he voted for Obama. Join Obama's sinking ship and make it official and quit wasting our time.

Laxalt suffers the same weak backbone that cost McCain the election. Bush was more conservative than McCain and that is saying a lot. Until primary voting Republicans ignore Laxalt, Colin Powell, and other Liberal Democrats that call themselves Republicans, we are not going to win. The Republican Party wins with a Sarah Palin backbone, or loses with a Dole, McCain, Bush Sr. style 'reach-across-the-aisle' Democrat light style.
